Buccaneers oddali swoje wybory w drafcie: w pierwszej i drugiej rundzie 2002, w pierwszej i drugiej rundzie 2003 i dorzucili 8mln $! Całkiem sporo jak za trenera, już w pierwszym roku pracy Gruden udowodnił, że warto było za niego tyle wyłożyć.
