JaMarcus Russell sneaking into end zone
BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bills opened the second half with a Trent Edwards to Lee Evans 24-yard pass completion. But the 7-play drive ended with a Ryan Lindell missed 46-yard field goal.
After a holding penalty on a punt return, Buffalo began their drive at the 1-yard line. The Raiders stuffed Marshawn Lynch on 1st and 10 for no gain, and on the next play, DeAngelo Hall intercepted a Trent Edwards pass intended for Lee Evans. The athletic cornerback jumped over and wrapped his arms …

Countdown to Paydirt: Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders

Bitter rivals renew their rivalry under the lights of Monday Night Football to kickoff the season. The Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos will compete for the 96th time since both first met in 1960. The Silver & Black holds a 54-39-2 regular season advantage, and they are 2-0 during home openers versus the Broncos.
Last season, both clubs split their meetings, both winning at home. JaMarcus Russell saw his first action as a pro during their second meeting at the ‘Black Hole’, a game in which the Raiders earned the …

After a lackluster aerial performance in their first pre-season game, the Oakland Raiders decided last night to feature what could be their best pass-and-catch combo.
The Silver & Black lost 17-16 in Nashville, but draft mates JaMarcus Russell and Zach Miller looked in sync as the Raiders showed a glimpse of what the duo can do.
Miller navigated around the Titans coverage, Russell showed off his athleticism and big arm and all of the sudden, after a scoring drive in which both connected three times for 46-yards and a perfectly executed 10-yard …

The Oakland Raiders (1-0) traveled last season to Tennessee to face the Titans (1-0) and were defeated 13-9. This Friday, both teams will meet again for their second pre-season contest, marking the 10th time both franchises have met prior to the regular season.
Lane Kiffin and Jeff Fisher will try to stretch their starters into the 2nd quarter in hopes of getting them primed for their third contest of the pre-season, where they will get an entire half of dress rehearsal.
Oakland is coming off an 18-6 victory versus the 49ers, while …

Raiders training camp notebook (8/5/08)

As the first pre-season NFL game nears, the Oakland Raiders depth chart is beginning to take shape. With that, players who see themselves on “the bubble” begin to prepare for what might be their last dress rehearsal.
Here are some of the highlights of Tuesday’s practice:

Wide receiver Jonathan Holland hauled in an intermediate pass for a completion. This would normally not be a note-worthy reference, but the fact is that Holland has been dropping several sure-handed attempts since camp began.
Wide receiver Drisan James caught a well thrown play-action touchdown pass in …

Raiders training camp notebook (8/1/08)

Quarterback JaMarcus Russell threw much better today after sustaining an elbow injury a couple of days ago. Most of his passes were short dump offs, but there were some that he riffled into tight coverage for completions.
On a strange looking play, defensive end Derrick Burgess and tackle Cornell Green met at the point of attack, grabbing each other as the play came their way. The two didn’t want the other to get the upper hand in positioning, so they held on to to their jerseys as they ran around each …

JaMarcus Russell participated during all workouts today. The coaches limited him to short passes as a precaution. Otherwise, he looked like he was in no discomfort. Russell did throw one ball 50 yards. Russell humbly admitted that he only used his wrist in making the throw. WOW!
Head coach Lane Kiffin answered questions about the performance of offensive tackle Mario Henderson and for all practical purposes, threw him under the …

Starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell was seen on the field throwing soft tosses in individual drills, but whenever he pronated his wrist, he felt some pain in his elbow according to Lane Kiffin. Kiffin also stated that Russell wanted to continue, but the team wanted to play it cautious and keep him out of the 11-on-11 drills. The team will assess him tomorrow morning to see how he …

Raiders training camp notebook (7/29/08)

Training camp notes (7/29/08)

Wide receiver Drew Carter fought off hits from the defense and still managed to fight in the endzone for a touchdown after hauling in a toss near the goal line.
Offensive tackle Kwame Harris worked out with the team and looked much better. He also appears to be healthy.
Tight end Zach Miller will likely be the training camp MVP (if there is such an award). He has been snatching every catch his way …
