Multiple media outlets are reporting Raiders receiver Javon Walker was found unconscious this morning in Las Vegas, apparently the victim of a mugging and robbery.
Several reports list his injuries as including an orbital fracture, and state that he is in “fair” condition in a Vegas hospital.
Walker, who signed a big-money free agent deal with Oakland this offseason, has “significant injuries,” according to police spokesman Bill Cassell, who was quoted by the Associated Press.
The same report says the team is “in the process of gathering information,” and would not comment further.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Walker was out at a nightclub before the incident, departing at 6:30 a.m. He was found on the street by police at 7:19, the newspaper said
Walker, who is making a comeback from a 2007 knee injury, was expected to start for the Raiders opposite Ronald Curry this season, replacing departed free agent Jerry Porter.
Obviously, at this point, his status is unclear, but the primary concern must be for his well-being.
