The NFL Scouting Combine is scheduled for February 22-28. Many of the league’s scouts, general managers, coaches and personnel staffers head to Indianapolis, Ind., to evaluate the talent that will be up for grabs during April’s draft.
The 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump and shuttle run are just some of drills that the prospects will perform, along with interviews with the media and scouts.
In February of 2011, I posted a column regarding Oakland’s draft habits, found here:
NFL Draft: Workouts & speed, looking for the next Oakland Raiders
With Reggie McKenzie in place, will the new general manager live by the same ‘speed kills’ mantra? Or will the Oakland Raiders have a new way in assessing talent? It’s likely we’ll see more changes from this organization and how they approach the whole draft process.
And that will begin this week at the combine.
