The Oakland Raiders have always been a pillar in the local community by encouraging it’s youth to get out and participate in local sports events hosted by the team, donating expensive equipment to local sports programs, footing the bill on Christmas shopping sprees for under-privileged kids, and even volunteering its time, sweat, and elbow grease in a partnership with Homes For Humanity in building homes for needing families.

This week, the Oakland Raiders teamed up with the National Football League Grassroots Program to grant a total of $100,000 to two local programs. $50,000 went to San Leandro High School’s Burrell Field for new field lights which will benefit both San Leandro High School and the entire community. The other $50,000 was granted to Oakland’s Ernie Raimondi Field to install new bleachers which is part of a two-phase renovation which go along with a new synthetic field , new field, new lighting, and American Disabilities Act upgrades.

“The Raiders are pleased to work with the NFL to provide a place for children to engage in outdoor activity and play,” said Raider CEO Amy Trask. Providing safe and enjoyable environments is in greater need more than ever. “These fields are a critical part of our efforts to create sustainable communities – places where people want to live, work and raise families,” said Michael Rubinger, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) CEO and President.
