Per agent Joe Linta, Oakland Raiders outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley will sign his franchise tender on Tuesday.
The Silver & Black used their franchise designation on Wimbley, and now the team leader in sacks in 2010 will make $11.3 million in 2011.
Oakland has been trying to negotiate a long-term deal with the former first round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns. According to Linta, the discussions have been cordial and if a deal is not struck, that his client would be comfortable playing with the compensation that comes with the franchise tag.
“Kamerion is a great young talent and he and the Raiders are excited about him continuing his career as a member of the Silver and Black,” said Raiders head coach Hue Jackson in a press release on February 24.
