Darrius Heyward-Bey talking about the loss to Cal

Darrius Heyward-Bey remembers it. Nnamdi Asomugha remembers it. My boy Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee remembers it. And certainly I remember it. The ‘IT’ I refer to is that unforgettable-forgettable beatdown by the Maryland Terrapins against my California Golden Bears last year in Maryland with the score of 35-27. The end score was not indicative of how badly my team played nor was it how badly my ‘boys’ were knocked around, namely our FUTURE HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER running back Jahvid Best, who quite literally got the puke knocked out of him. (I’m sure you all have seen the youtube clips on that hit, so I won’t degrade myself by re-visualizing that moment)

But, wait…(enter sarcasm). What is this? Cal got some revenge last night? You mean to tell me that my boys jumped on the flying turtles 14-3 by the end of the first quarter? Certainly, Cal wouldn’t widen that lead by the end of the first half. What is that you say? Cal slapped the Galapagos Sea Turtles with a 31-6 score by halftime? Surely you jest. Wait a minute…this just in. The California Bears dropped a Five-Deuce on the hapless pet turtles by the final tick of the clock? Naw…can’t be. I think I need some confirmation on this. Jason is out doing God knows what and I can’t find Nnamdi Asomugha in the locker room. Perhaps I should ask Former Terrapin Darrius Heyward-Bey if this is true or not. Just to be sure, let me wear my BRIGHT GOLD Cal Bears t-shirt and Cal visor so that I can properly identify myself.

It seems that Darrius confirms this “improbable” story; Cal did WHOOOOP on Maryland last night. He seems like a great guy (for a rookie), but for the life of me, I can’t figure out why he won’t wear my spare Cal Bears cap. It’s clean, the size should fit, and it didn’t smell (except for the smell of victory). Hell…I bought it JUST for this occasion. But for whatever reason, it must have been kryptonite by the way he ran off when I asked him to wear it on behalf of Jason Jones and all other Cal fans. He mentioned that Nnamdi already got him doing something. I’m dying to know what that was! Lol!!!

Seriously though, DHB was a good sport about it and it was all in fun. Great kid but…WELCOME TO THE NFL ROOK!!! GO CAL!!!
